Question:
Who should teach children: both have to shoulder the responsibility

Given that the success of a nation largely depends upon the quality of its citizens, parents, schools as well as the whole society need to shoulder the responsibility of inculcating strong value system in children.
To begin, parents are the first teachers of a kid. Juveniles observe their parents and other family members at an impressionable age. They implicitly pick up many of their traits and behaviours, which form the bedrock of their character and value system. For example, I was raised by the parents who were very disciplined themselves. They spoke with each other very politely and were highly respected for their conduct. Thus, I unknowingly, learnt these traits from them. On the other hand one of my friends had a very rude and dominating demeanour thanks to the impact of his parent’s conduct.
Some people opine that schools are primarily responsible for making children good Samaritans. The fact is, in today’s scenario, where kids have to learn so many academic subjects in schools, it would be unwise to think that schools will also teach them how to become good members of the society.
The purpose is not to undermine the importance of schools in building the character of students. But, school is the place where we learn the skills and subjects that are more important from the perspective of knowledge. Character building and personality related aspects can-not be taught in the four walls of a class room. Those skills are best learnt by imitating parents and elders.
To sum up, children are like wet clay. The environment they get at home, school and their society mold them into good or bad citizens. But, it is the parents who steer their thinking in the right direction by mentoring them in a loving way, and thus, they are primarily responsible develop the right behavioral traits in them.

It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction.
To what extend to you agree or disagree with this opinion?
What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behaviour to children?

Undeniably, a carrot and a stick both play a vital role in teaching children the difference between right and wrong. As far as the nature of punishments is concerned, I tend to believe that they should not cause any permanent physical or psychological damage to the children.

PEE [Point / Example / Explaination]
====================================
One of the elements of style is to ask a question. This can be used at the beginning of the paragraph to draw reader’s attention..
====================================

Is punishment necessary to teach children this distinction? Well, in some situations, a punishment might be necessary. To quote an example, my parents used to punish me by curtailing my leisure time, if I did not finish my assignments. Similarly, my mother's way of punishing me was to stop talking with me for some time. Likewise, my teachers used to punish me by sending me back from school, if I used to get late. It used to make me think about the mistake I committed, and those lessons left an indelible (permanent) mark on me. In other words, punishments play an important role to teach children the essential lessons of life.
However, harsh punishments might be harmful. Sometimes out of rage or ignorance, parents and teachers beat children causing severe injuries to them. Law enforcing agencies should provide clear guidelines in this regard. The ground rule should be that punishment should teach a lesson, without causing any permanent damage to children’s body or psyche. For instance penalties such as asking children to run in the ground or rewrite the lessons five times can be good enough to discipline a child.
To conclude, a punishment is indispensable to teach a lesson in certain situations. Parents and teachers should use them sparingly to steer kids in the right direction.
