IELTS Writing - Quality Vs Quantity

Spend your time wisely

The maths is simple: write more and you will have less time to check and proofread.

It is generally recommended that the number of words that you write should be around the same as what is asked for in the task.

So, ideally, you should aim for 150-170 words in Task 1 and 250-275 words in task 2.

It is a lot better for you to spend the extra time proofreading, checking and rechecking your work. The Writing test is not about quantity — it is all about quality and accuracy.

You have to remember that the more you write, the more chance there is for you to make a grammatical, or spelling error.
