There are various theories propounded by researchers and academicians on the given subject. In my opinion the best way would be a combination of different methods. A deep dive will help us to appreciate the subject holistically.

Schools serve purpose of imparting education in a systematic way. The trained teachers in schools use well designed study-kits in the form of books and other audiovisual content to enlighten children about various subjects. Further, there are standardized lesson-plans and evaluation methodologies which help children learn and improve in a formal setup. Not to forget, schools also provide a platform to participate in various extracurricular activities which help children learn important life-skills. Lastly, students get the advantage of learning from their friends. Thus, schools are indispensable in today's world.

On the other hand, practical experience has its own importance. The lessons imparted in real world environment give a chance to understand the concepts thoroughly. Moreover, children get a chance to apply them in the real world. Proponents of this method opine that there is higher retention, if children set things practically. It is also believed that this method makes the learning process more interesting and engaging.

I tend to believe that a blended approach would be the best way to go. Concepts of Math and Science can be best explained in a class room environment. This knowledge can be further augmented by incorporating some field trips. For example, taking children to a water-filter plant can help them learn about the concepts and process of water-filtration. Similarly, a trip to villages can help them learn about the gap between urban and rural communities.

To sum up, there is no one best way. It behoves schools to use a mix of class-room training and experiential learning to achieve best results.
